WHAT IS PADEL?
New to Padel? You're in the right place.
01
The Game
Padel is a dynamic mix of tennis and squash, played on an enclosed court about a third the size of a tennis court. The walls are part of the game, adding a fun twist and endless possibilities for clever shots. It’s usually played in doubles, making it a social, fast-paced sport that’s as much about strategy as it is about skill.
02
The Gear
Getting started is simple. All you need is a padel racquet — solid and perforated instead of strung like a tennis racquet to cut down on air resistance — and a set of padel balls, which are slightly smaller and less bouncy than tennis balls.
03
How To Play
Padel uses the same scoring system as tennis - 15, 30, 40 and Game, and are typically played to Best of 3 Sets. Courts can be booked for either an hour or 1.5 hours for those competitive 3 set matches.
Serving
-
Always underarm, drop the ball, let it bounce once, hit at or below waist height.
- Serve must land in the opponent’s box before touching any walls.
- After bouncing in the service box, it can hit the side or back glass. The ball is out if it hits the cage.
During Play
-
Ball must bounce on the court before hitting the glass and mesh walls.
- You can play shots off your own walls before returning.
- Point is lost if the ball hits the mesh or glass walls directly without bouncing.
Winning Points
-
Opponent fails to return before the second bounce.
- Opponent hits the ball into the net or out of bounds.
04
The Players
Padel is for everyone — whether you’re a complete beginner, a seasoned tennis player, or somewhere in between. The smaller court, underarm serve, and slower ball speed make it easy to learn, yet still challenging for advanced players. It’s a sport where age and strength matter less than quick thinking and good teamwork.

There are 2 options to book a court. We recommend 90 minutes; this should be enough time to play 'Best of 3 Sets' match.
What is a 'Playtomic Rating'?
A Playtomic rating is a score that reflects a player’s padel level and performance on the Playtomic app. The rating is calculated automatically by Playtomic based on the results of your matches and who you play against. It helps to give a fair measurement of your current skill level, so you can find opponents of a similar ability and enjoy more balanced, competitive games.

recommend comfortable sports wear and sports trainers for games.
